MADISON - Disappointment was not a lonely feeling for Monroe golf coach Jeriamy Jackson on Monday.
His squad placed ninth out of 10 teams at the Madison Memorial Invitational at Blackhawk Golf Course.
"The greens were extremely hard and fast," Jackson said. "The course played tough, but the good news is we weren't alone."
Madison Memorial, accustomed to shooting under 300 as a team under ideal conditions, won the event with 315 total strokes. Monroe's Badger rival Madison Edgewood was second with 321.
Madison La Follette's Max Hosking won the meet's medalist honor by shooting a 72. Monroe senior Gary Petit led his team with an 82, while juniors Brandon Wilson (86), Aaron Krattiger (92) and Mitch McArdle (93) rounded out the scorecards for Monroe.
Jackson said the elite tournament would be good preparation for Wednesday's Badger Conference tournament in Spring Green.
