CUBA CITY - Darlington senior Alex Erickson erupted for a game-high 31 points to lead the Redbirds to a 62-53 win over Cuba City Thursday night to clinch a share of the Southwest Wisconsin Activities League title.
Erickson hit five of the Redbirds' seven 3-pointers to propel his team to its second straight co-conference championship with the Cubans.
Darlington (20-2, 13-1 SWAL), ranked eighth in the Associated Press Division 4 poll, jumped out to a 13-9 first quarter lead against the seventh-ranked Cubans. The Redbirds led 31-24 at halftime and were able to hang on in the second half.
Darlington senior Tucker Wiegel scored eight points and junior Brandon Hardyman added seven.
