Norman “Norm” Nielsen aka “Stormin’ Norman”, age 72 passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026 at his home. He was born on January 16, 1954 the son of Raymond and Charlene (Simmons) Nielsen in Chicago, IL. He attended school in the Chicago area. After high school Norm proudly served in the United States Army from 1975-1977. Norm worked for Laidlaw in Monticello and later for Kuhn Knight in Brodhead. Norm enjoyed spending time with his family and took pride in caring for his home and yard. He will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor and quick wit.

Norm is survived by his siblings, Carl (Cindy) Nielsen of Argyle, Laura (Michael) Molnar of Byron, and Peggy (Dennis) Coleman of Merritt Island, FL; brother-in-law, Scott Babler of Monticello; beloved nieces and nephews, Denise (Stewart) Swenson, Janice (Brian) Teasdale, Mark Molnar, Nicole (Tim) Harriman, Kyle (fiancé, Emily Tronti) Coleman, Sarah (Christian) Greene, Melissa Babler, and Matthew Babler; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bob Nielsen and Cindy Babler; and nephew, Rob Nielsen.

A Celebration of Norm’s Life will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shgfuneralhome.net.
