DARLINGTON - The Darlington boys basketball team had three players earn All-Southwest Wisconsin Activities League honors recently.
Darlington sophomore Cole McDonald received first-team all-conference honors. McDonald averaged 14.4 points per game and helped lead the Redbirds to a 6-17 record. The Redbirds finished 4-10 in the SWAL for sixth place.
Juniors Cade Hardyman and Cody Hardyman were named honorable mention all-conference for the Redbirds. Cody Hardyman was the team's second leading scorer at 8.8 ppg and Cade Hardyman averaged 7.2 ppg.
Lancaster ended the Redbirds' season, knocking them off 57-45 in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal game. The Redbirds had a young team and closed the season with six straight losses.
Cuba City (26-1, 14-0) won the league championship for the seventh straight year. Cuba City had five all-league players led by player of the year Jason Derby who averaged 15.7 ppg. Cuba City coach Jerry Petitgoue was named the coach of the year. The Cubans have dominated the SWAL going 93-5 the last seven years, including undefeated seasons the last two years.
Darlington's junior varsity went 19-3 and the Redbirds will have several starters returning next year.
