STOUGHTON - The Monroe girls swimming team turned in 10 personal records en route to knocking off Stoughton in a Badger South dual 88-82 Tuesday night.
The 10 PRs came from the top three finishes swimmers turned in from various events.
"It didn't matter what the score board said, these young ladies put it all on the line and had an amazing night in the pool," Monroe coach Linda Moser said. "The score was the icing on the cake. Do we still have a lot of work ahead of us? Yes and the girls know that, but tonight proves to them they are capable of great things. Their success lies in the improvement of their times."
The Cheesemakers won eight events. Monroe sophomore Rachel Root won the 200-yard freestyle with a PR time of 2 minutes, 6.02 seconds and she finished first in the 100 butterfly with a PR of 1:03.88.
Root teamed with Nichole Lattin, Leanna Schwartzlow and Cat Weeden to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:04.81. The Cheesemakers' 200 medley relay team of Jessica Moehn, Sarah Kind, Sarah Tomasiewicz and Angie Beaver took second with a time of 2:15.05.
Root teamed with Moehn, Beaver and Schwartzlow to win the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:52.26.
The Cheesemakers had the top two swimmers in the 100 backstroke. Moehn finished first in the backstroke with a time of 1:12.61 and Beaver was second with a PR of 1:15.09.
The Cheesemakers had two of the top three swimmers in the 100 freestyle. Schwartzlow won the 100 freestyle (:57.36) and Kind swam a PR to take third (1:03.80). Kind added a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a PR of 28.25 seconds.
The Cheesemakers' 400 freestyle relay team of Rachel Wellnitz, Anika Nelson, Lattin and Weeden took second with a time of 4:24.40. Wellnitz took third in the 200 freestyle (2:24.60), which was a PR by seven seconds.
Weeden finished second in the 500 freestyle with a PR of 6:18.85, which was eight seconds better than her previous best time. Lattin added PRs and third-place finishes in both the 500 freestyle (6:19.59) and the 100 breaststroke (1:22.58). She set a PR by 20 seconds in the 500 freestyle and two seconds in the 100 breaststroke.
Monroe swims in a meet Saturday at Ashwaubenon against Freeport and Ashwaubenon.
