BENTON - A seven-run fourth inning by Juda-Albany put the dagger into the hearts of Benton-Shullsburg Thursday. The Panthers had scored six runs through the first three innings, but made it 13-0 headed into the bottom of the fourth and went on to win 14-1.

Nicki Becker went 3-for-4 at the plate with five RBIs, and was just as stellar on the mound, striking out 10 batters and allowing just two hits and no walks in four innings of work. Emily Makos pitched the fifth for Juda-Albany and struck out one.

Kirsten Oliver was 2-for-4 with four RBIs for Juda-Albany, and teammates Hailey Kammerer (3-for-4) and Haley Freitag (2-for-4) also had multi-hit games.

The Panthers (6-1) pounded out 13 hits in the game and scored two runs in the first, one in the second and three in the third before the explosive fourth inning. Juda-Albany added another run in the top of the fifth inning for good measure before capping off the game with a 10-run mercy rule.

Brodhead 9, Edgerton 6

BRODHEAD - Azzy Steiner struck out four batters and the Cardinals escaped the Crimson Tide with a win Thursday.

Whitney Gerber recorded three hits and two RBIs at the dish for Brodhead, and teammate McKenna Bump added a pair of RBIs.

The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second and made it 4-2 after the third inning. The Cardinals would go on to add three more runs in the fourth to make it 7-2. Edgerton brought it back to 7-4 in the fifth, but the Cardinals scored a pair of insurance runs in the sixth to seal the victory.

Cuba City 7, Darlington 1

CUBA CITY - The Cubans (8-3) plated six runners in the bottom of the first to put the Redbirds in a deficit and held on from there.

The leadoff hitter for Cuba City Teagan Graber reached on an error by Darlington pitcher Alyssa Tuescher, who then allowed a bunt for a hit and a walk to the next two batters. A pop out and ground out put the Redbirds in position to get out of the inning unscathed, but the Cubans collected four hits and a walk over the next five batters before getting the third and final out.

Chelsie Golackson had a two-out base hit in the third inning for Darlington and scored on Bethany McDonald's double. Those were the only two hits that the Redbirds could muster off of Delaney Ryan, who struck out 12 and walked none.

Darlington travels to Belleville today for a nonconference game.
