A snowstorm that dumped eight inches across the area Thursday night into Friday, didn't stop the Argyle boys basketball team.
Argyle (1-4, 1-3 Six Rivers East) outscored Pecatonica 14-1 in the first quarter en route to posting their first win 48-43 over the Vikings Friday night.
Despite a full slate of school district closings and game cancellations, the Orioles and Vikings wanted the game to go on.
"We decided yesterday, even if there was no school, if the roads were clear by noon; we were going to play so we wouldn't have to make it up later in the year," Argyle assistant coach Chuck Bredeson said, who also serves as the junior varsity coach.
Argyle senior Andy Bohlman led the Orioles with a game-high 20 points. Sophomore center Nate Thomas scored 14 points and senior Kevin Berg added nine.
"We just got the ball in the post," Bredeson said. "We played really hard defense. This was the best defense we have played all year."
The Orioles led 20-10 at halftime and 33-20 at the end of the third quarter. The Vikings (2-4, 1-3) rallied from a 13-point deficit, outscoring the Orioles 23-15 in the fourth quarter.
Pecatonica was led by senior Kaleb Feller, who scored 13 points and junior Jeremy Meudt who added 12. Pecatonica seniors Kyle Kent and Milton Kurschner each chipped in eight.
