Lowell E. Stuessy, age 85 of Monroe died Saturday, December 18 at Monroe Hospital. He was born on January 2, 1936 in South Wayne, the son of Herman and Leona (Goodman) Stuessy. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1954, North Central College and Mortuary Science in Milwaukee. He served in the US Naval Reserves for 12 years. Lowell married Susan A. Granberg on Sept. 2, 1956 at Yellowstone Lutheran Church. He later married Melody Becherer on May 20, 2006 in Monroe. Lowell started at the Stuessy funeral home in 1959 with his father and worked until 1996. He served as Pastor of Martintown Community Church for 12 years, Church of the Brethern in Lena for 2 years and later started the Alternative Health Care office in 1998. He was quarterback for the Cheesemaker’s when in High School, became an Eagle Scout, was a life-member of Loyal Order of Moose and past President of the Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife, Melody of Monroe; son, Paul (Jennifer) Stuessy of Midlothian, VA; step-children: DeAnna (Michael) Ace, Trish Bliss, Patricia (Walter) Wyman, Daniel, and Adam Bliss; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Cindi Trimble of San Diego, CA; and his dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Mark Stuessy, and brother, Arlo Stuessy.
A Celebration of Lowell’s Life will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Monroe Seventh Day Adventist Church 316 17th St. Monroe, WI 53566, from Noon until 2:00 PM with a Moose Service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery. SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home is assisting the family.
