Kathleen S. Sargent Teasdale age 97 of Darlington, WI passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Lafayette County Memorial Hospital in Darlington.  She was born on January 24, 1927, at home on Hickory St., Galena, Illinois to Joseph and Edith (Keopcke) Smith.  Kathleen graduated from Galena high school in 1946.  She married Francis Sargent on September 12, 1946, and moved to rural Shullsburg, WI where she became a farmer’s wife and raised their 8 children. Kathleen and Francis began the compassionate role as foster parents, over the years they have cared for 65 children.  In 1995 Francis passed away unexpectedly. On January 24, 1998, Kathleen was united in marriage to Robert Teasdale.  Her and Robert moved to Benton, WI later that year where they resided for 24 years.   Over the years Kathleen worked for Burgies Battery and the Darlington country Club.  

Kathleen is  survived by her children: Charles (Jean Bolan) Sargent of Darlington, James (Joann) Sargent of Shullsburg, WI, Mary Cropper of Warren Il, Grata (Ted Moris) Sargent of Darlington WI, Bette Olson of Darlington, WI, Joe (Cindy Glesen) Sargent of New Diggings, WI and Tina (Wayne Thompson) Brugger of Darlington, WI; two step-daughters: Sandy and Michelle Teasdale; 18 grandchildren, 25 Great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, one brother: Terry (Jean Gallaway) Smith of Fort Mills, SC. And many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands: Francis E. Sargent in 1995 and Robert P. Teasdale in 2018; one son: Verle Sargent; one stepson David Teasdale; two grandchildren: Blake Sargent and Riley Schwartz; two brothers Joseph and Emmett Smith; two sisters: Priscilla “Boots” Mace and Mary Barklow one son-in-law Larry Cropper and one daughter-in-law: Cathy Sargent.

Kathleen was a member of Wardsville Home Makers and the Lafayette County Home Makers for over 40 years.  She loved to travel to Canada and throughout the U.S.A. and Europe with her husband Bob.  They lived in Florida for 5 months out of the year for 16 years consecutively until Bob’s death in 2018. She cherished the time she spent with her family, making memories that they will hold dear for years to come.

A funeral service will be held, Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 11:30AM at the Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington (508 Main St. Darlington WI 53530) with Rev. Bill Vassey Officiating.  A visitation will be held August 14, 2024, from 10:00AM-11:15 AM at the Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington (508 Main St. Darlington WI 53530).  The burial will take place at Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington.
