BENTON TOWNSHIP - Three people were injured Saturday night in a one-vehicle rollover crash in Benton Township.

According to a news release from the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department:

William E. Kounse, 23, Central City, Iowa, was westbound on County W traveling at a high rate of speed when his 2003 Nissan went airborne causing Kounse to lose control. The Nissan then drove into the north ditch where it rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its wheels.

Kounse was transported by Hazel Green EMS to a Dubuque hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. His two passengers, Page Alan Wright, 23, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Makayla D. Howell, 20, Lowden, Iowa, were treated on scene by Hazel Green EMS but refused medical transport.

Wisconsin State Patrol assisted with the accident investigation that led to Kounse's arrest at about 11 p.m. for driving while intoxicated. Both passengers were cited for open intoxicants in the vehicle. Cuba City Police, Benton Fire Department, Benton First Response and Shullsburg EMS also assisted on scene.
