MONROE - A major drug bust in Monroe has resulted in the arrest of three felony suspects and the seizure of illegal drugs and cash, authorities announced late Friday.
The initial investigation – led by the State Line Area Narcotics task force – involved a suspected marijuana grow operation in the 500 block of 21st Street on the city’s southwest side.
In addition to the pot grow, and 17,000 grams of marijuana, authorities also allege in a statement that they uncovered psilocybin mushrooms grow operation, along with 50 grams of suspected cocaine and nearly 3 grams of heroin.
As a result, Mark D. McCoy, 47, of Monroe, was charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place, manufacturing THC, manufacturing psilocybin, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, felony possession of a firearm, bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tiffany J. Turner, 40, also of Monroe, was also charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place, manufacturing THC, manufacturing psilocybin, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, felony possession of a firearm, bail and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In addition, Dwayne E. Sandress, 56, also of Monroe was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
All three suspects remained in Green County Jail awaiting initial court appearances and no one was injured in the raid, said a statement from Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley.
The Agents State Line Area Narcotics Team Task Force assisted officers on the scene and with the long-term investigation.
