MONROE — Mark Pocan (D-Black Earth), Wisconsin’s 2nd Congressional  Representative in Washington, continued his town hall tour across the state, stopping by Monroe on April 16. About 300 constituents from Green, Lafayette and Dane County attended forum.

Pocan tried to get through nearly a hundred different questions, much of which pertaining to inflation, President Donald Trump, DOGE, the U.S. deficit, immigration and court rulings, and what regular people can do to step up and make a difference.

Pocan, and now many other Democrats across the country, are holding more town halls as Republicans have been advised to halt their town halls after a series of viral moments when facing bitter and upset constituents. One of Pocan’s Republican peers, Derrick Van Orden of Wisconsin’s 3rd District, has been relatively absent across his district since Trump’s inauguration three months ago. Pocan said that Van Orden was on a delegation to Greece this weekend, suggesting, however, that the trip was less about global diplomacy and more likely a vacation to the sunny Mediterranean country on the tax-payer’s dollar. Pocan and other Democrats will be holding a town hall soon in La Crosse — Van Orden’s district.

“Someone has to let them know what’s going on,” Pocan said.
