MONROE - The Monroe Fire Department is holding an open house and recruit orientation session from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday at Station 1, 601 West 17th St., near Badger State Ethanol.
Families and community members are welcome to attend the Monroe Fire Department open house. Prospective members must attend the orientation session in order to receive an application packet.
The fire department will be recruiting six paid-on-call firefighters for a recruit class beginning Sept. 22.
The general requirements are: 18 years of age; live in the Monroe Fire District; pass a department physical exam and drug screen; and agree to a comprehensive background check.
All required training will be provided. Starting wage is $13 per hour with increases awarded based on certification levels attained. All training and response hours are paid at this rate.
