Man dies in UTV accident

TOWN OF YORK — A rural Blanchardville man died in a UTV accident on private property midday Saturday, Dec. 7, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

David J. Laurent, 69, was pronounced dead at the scene after being fatally injured in the accident in the W8800 block of Wisconsin 39, Town of York.

He was driving the UTV at a low speed on a steep embankment when the vehicle overturned, partially ejecting him and trapping him underneath. He was not wearing a helmet, and the vehicle was not equipped with seatbelts.

An adult passenger riding on the UTV at the time of the crash was uninjured.

Deputies, Blanchardville EMS and the Blanchardville Fire Department responded to a report of the crash at about 1:50 p.m. and were assisted by the Green County Coroner’s Office, Green County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and New Glarus police.
