Man arrested for stolen van

PLATTEVILLE - Investigations into the theft of a van on Monday, Feb. 24 from a Super 8 hotel led to the arrest of the man accused stealing the vehicle.

Timmy L. Johnson, 25, Dubuque, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, and was identified as the suspect of the stolen vehicle.

According to the press release:

Johnson was transported back to Darlington after his arrest and remains jailed in the Lafayette County Jail. At the time of his arrest, Johnson was not in possession of the stolen van and did not reveal its location.

On Thursday, Feb. 27 the Darlington Police Department was notified that the stolen van was found abandoned in a loading dock at a Platteville business. The van has since been returned to its rightful owner.

Johnson faces charges of operating a vehicle without the owner's consent, criminal damage to property and bail jumping. Johnson was out of jail on bail for having allegedly stolen a vehicle out of the City of Platteville last Fall.
