MAC building campaign meets challenge

MONROE - An anonymous donor has challenged the Monroe Arts Center board of directors and the Monroe Arts Center Foundation board of directors to match $50,000 for the MAC Legacy Campaign 2-to-1, or to raise $100,000.

The challenged was made recently and the $100,000 has to be new funds, and not funds previously committed to the Legacy Campaign.

The two MAC Boards met the challenge by raising $110,750 in a month.

"The two boards have shown an extraordinary commitment to this project," said Richard Daniels, MAC director. "They are not holding back in their support. To date, the two boards have pledged or given $810,000. This level of giving is a sign of the depth of their generosity and commitment to this project.

"The MAC staff is truly in awe."

The arts center is preparing a request for proposals for a construction manager in preparation for work this fall on the design development phase of the new building.

The architectural firm is The Kubala Washatko Architects, Cedarburg, which previously prepared the concept and schematic designs for the new building and will prepare the final designs.
