MONROE - Ron Spielman, who has been an active supporter and former board chairman for Monroe Clinic and Hospital Foundation, recently accepted the appointment of interim director for the foundation.

"As Monroe Clinic and Hospital Foundation begins its search for a new executive director, I am confident Ron will ensure the foundation runs smoothly and seamlessly during this time of transition," said Mike Sanders, president and chief executive officer for Monroe Clinic. "His professional background and strong community presence, as well as his familiarity with the foundation and enthusiasm for its mission, make him the ideal person for this appointment."

In 2009, Spielman retired from his position as a vice president and trust officer of both Wisconsin Community Bank and Galena State Bank and Trust. Over the past 25 years, Spielman has served on the board of St. Clare Hospital and Monroe Clinic. He most recently served as the chairman for Monroe Clinic and Hospital Foundation in 2008 and 2009 and continues to be an active supporter of its cause. In 2009, Spielman joined Monroe Clinic as a special projects advisor. He holds a law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Spielman will serve as the interim director while Monroe Clinic begins the search to fill the position. The former executive director, Deirdre Gruendler, recently resigned from the position, citing personal reasons. Gruendler served as director since the foundation's beginning in 2007.
