MONROE — A search warrant executed last year on a rural Browntown residence has resulted in a felony child porn possession charge against an Oregon man.

Charles Edward Jaeger, 21, was charged Nov. 1 in Green County Circuit Court with the Class D felony, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 25 years.

He signed a $20,000 signature bond at his initial appearance Nov. 8 and is next in court for a preliminary hearing Dec. 9.

Conditions of his bond include no contact with anyone younger than 18 and no contact or physical presence on any school grounds or parks except to attend Madison College. Wisconsin court records show no criminal history for Jeager.

According to the criminal complaint:

Investigation into the case began in September 2018 with a referral to law enforcement of possible child pornography connected to an IP address at a Town of Cadiz residence on Wisconsin 11. The tip came from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program.

During a search of the home several weeks later, investigators did not find evidence that anyone living in the house at the time had child porn.

However, investigators found digital evidence linked to Jaeger, who had stayed in the house off and on between October 2017 and April 2018.

The photo and video files depicted graphic sexual acts being performed on or with prepubescent children, some as young as 2 or 3 years old.

When interviewed by investigators in March, Jaeger referred to the cache of files as “deep web stuff” sent to a digital storage account registered to his email address. He alluded to viewing the pornography while high on cocaine but said he stopped because the content made him “sick.”
