NEW GLARUS - A 23-month-old girl nearly drowned after slipping in a bathtub Tuesday at a residence in 800 block of Second Street, according to New Glarus Police Sgt. Jeff Sturdevant.

Police are not suspecting foul play at this time, he said.

No further information was available Wednesday morning.

Green County Emergency Medical Services Chief Dan Nufer said the child "had a good pulse and was breathing on her own" when Green County EMS assisted New Glarus EMS.

"New Glarus had the situation under control and had done a great job," Nufer said.

The incident report was not completed Wednesday. The child's name was not being released.

New Glarus Police Chief Steve Allbaugh and Sturdevant were not in the office this morning.

Preliminary reports indicate the New Glarus Police Department, EMS and the Green County Sheriff's Department were called for a child who wasn't breathing at about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday to a home located in the 800 block of Second Street.

The girl was transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital.
