MONROE - A Green County deputy was involved in a high-speed vehicle pursuit in Juda on Sunday.

Thomas Moczynski, chief deputy for the Green County Sheriff's Department, said a deputy had observed a traffic violation at around 10 p.m. in the Juda area. When the deputy attempted to stop the offending vehicle, the vehicle instead attempted to elude the deputy.

The pursuit lasted for about two miles and ultimately concluded with the offending vehicle escaping the deputy.

However, Moczynsky said the Sheriff's Department has "a pretty good idea" of who the driver of the vehicle was.

Attempting to flee an officer in a vehicle is a Class I felony offense and carries a maximum sentence of 3.5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
