Counseling available to area veterans at Green County Veterans Service

MONROE - A counselor for veterans is available in the area on the first Wednesday of each month, at the Green County Veterans Service Office, N3150 Wisconsin 81, Monroe.

Government reports indicate there are more than 22 million living veterans, but only a small percentage use the services available through the Veteran's Administration service centers. VA service centers were created to serve war veterans from any conflicts and those who experienced sexual assault or harassment during their military careers. The services offered include PTSD, individual, marital, bereavement, family and group counseling sessions, as well as help with readjustment issues experienced as veterans leave the military and adapt to civilian life. Many counselors and support staff are veterans themselves and can relate to the issues unique to veterans. The centers also offer job and benefits counseling and referral, and counseling and referral for alcohol and drug addiction.

All services are provided at no cost to veterans or their family members. Those wishing to make an appointment to see a counselor or wanting more information should call the Madison Veterans Center at 608-264-5342.
