BRODHEAD - Roger O. Keen, age 89, of Mineral Point, WI, formerly of Brodhead, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at the Mineral Point Care Center. He was born on May 31, 1920 in Juda, WI, the son of George and Maude (Kammerer) Keen. He married Lois M. Michaelis on June 24, 1944 in Brodhead. She passed away on November 12, 1985.
Roger grew-up on a farm in rural Juda, and graduated from Juda High School. He farmed in Decatur Township, Green County for many years before moving to Brodhead in 1964. He also worked for Helgesen Harvestor prior to retiring in the early 1980's. He moved to Mineral Point in 1996. Roger was a member of the United Methodist Church, Brodhead.
He is survived by three sons, Lloyd (Eunice) Keen, Madison, Nathan Keen, Nashua, NH, Edward (Janice) Keen, Lansing, MI, a daughter, Joyce (Michael) Marr, Mineral Point, a brother, Gerald Keen, Madison, eight grandchildren, Matthew (Jamie) Keen, Racine, Melissa Keen, Madison, Robin (David) Anderson, Wauwatosa, Sarah Keen, Ithaca, NY, Steven Marr, Richland Center, Kimberly (John) Hansen, Lakewood, CO, Teri (Jeff) Eggebeen, Englewood, CO, and Chris (Abbie Steider) Marr, Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, Kathy Ann in 1951 in infancy, three brothers, Arkell, Kenneth, Dwight, two sisters, Cathy Keys, and Vivian in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI with Pastor Steve Stoves officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., Wednesday until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.
