Richard H. "Dick" Marty, age 86, of Monticello, died Monday, December 26, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. Dick was born on May 20, 1930 in Monroe, the son of John C. and Alma (Rufer) Marty. He attended Monticello High School and farmed all of his life in Monticello with his brother, Hans. Dick's marriage to Katharine Klassy produced two daughters, Dianne and Debra. His main passion in life was farming, but he also loved going on adventures, socializing, and hanging out at the limo shop.
He is survived by two daughters, Dianne (Tim) Rundle of Brodhead, and Debra (Scott) Marty Kramer of Platteville; seven grandchildren, Nicholas (Ann) Hartwig, Derrick Rundle (Chelsea), Skylar Rundle (Hayley), Levi Rundle, Logan, Mattea, and Addison Kramer; three great grandchildren, Harper, Hayven, and Hudson; his closest friend, Jamie Krueger (Alizabeth Carroll) and Jamie's daughter, Kaleigh; a sister-in-law, Ruth Marty of Monticello; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin and Hans Marty; and a sister, Julia Keegan.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, 360 S. Garfield St., Monticello, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello, followed by a celebration of Dick's life at 4:00 p.m. at the Attica Bar. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in his name.
