MONROE - Elias J. Hoffman, 21, Rockford, Ill., was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct at 1:06 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in the 1100 block of 16th Avenue. Officers on patrol report finding Hoffman intoxicated in front of Suisse Haus and were trying to help him find a friend when he started banging his head on a squad car and became disorderly. Police had him checked at the Monroe Clinic ER because he was reportedly so befuddled by alcohol that he thought he was in Freeport and had been stopped by Freeport police. He was then jailed.
Matthew M. Putz, 19, Monroe, was cited for underage drinking at 8:51 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in the 1500 block of 11th Street.
John R. Argall, 45, and his wife Renee L. Argall, 40, both of Monroe, were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest at 10:38 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in the 1600 block of 12th Street. Police noticed a commotion as bouncers at Suisse Haus were attempting to eject John Argall. When officers helped remove Argall from the bar, he resisted and his wife reportedly started screaming profanities at them. The couple was jailed.
Mark T. Bowen, 26, Freeport, Ill., was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated (third offense), driving without a valid license and disorderly conduct after police stopped him at 3:36 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, in the 2200 block of 17th Street. He was jailed.
The theft of a cellphone from a garage sale in the 700 block of 17th Avenue was reported at 11:42 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14. An investigation led to a family that had been at the sale. A young child took the cellphone without adults noticing. The phone was returned without incident to the garage sale.
A gas drive-off was reported at Kundert Oil, 317 8th St., at 12:58 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14. The vehicle was located and arrangements were made for payment.

Eliezer Vazquez Estudillo, 30, Monroe, was cited for driving without a valid license, failure to yield right-of-way and driving without vehicle insurance after police responded to a two-vehicle crash with road blockage on Wis. 69 at County W at 4:36 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13. Estudillo was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer when he failed to yield right-of-way at a stop sign and collided with a 1999 Jeep Cherokee driven by Joel Blum, 50, Monroe. Both vehicles were severely damaged and towed. New Glarus Area EMS and the New Glarus Fire Department also responded to the scene.

MONROE - Dennis R. Gutzmer, 60, Monticello, was cited for inattentive driving following a rollover accident reported at 3:51 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Wisconsin 81 and Hiawatha Road in the Town of Jordan. He was eastbound on Wis. 81 when he fell asleep, crossed over the center line and entered the gravel shoulder. He hit the face of the north guardrail, causing the vehicle to roll over and come to a rest on its roof in a ditch. Gutzmer and his son, Alex G. Gutzmer, 14, were wearing their seatbelts and able to free themselves and crawl out of the vehicle. Dennis Gutzmer was injured but declined EMS transport. His son was uninjured. The vehicle was severely damaged and towed. The Browntown Fire Department and Monroe EMS also responded to the scene.

DARLINGTON - Laramie D. Kraus, 48, Shullsburg, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, driving with a revoked license, speeding and keeping open intoxicants in a vehicle at 1:05 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, on Wisconsin 11 in the Town of Shullsburg. He was released to a responsible party.
Alisha M. Ruegsegger, 20, Milwaukee, was cited for unsafe backing at 6:35 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, after she hit two parked vehicles, including a Lafayette County Sheriff's Department squad car, in Blanchardville. A deputy observed her turning onto South Main Street from Pine Street when she struck a parked vehicle. The deputy began to pursue Ruegsegger, who traveled several blocks before attempting to parallel park. As she began backing up, she hit the squad. The deputy had both emergency lights and a siren on at the time of the crash. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. The Blanchardville Police Department assisted at the scene.
Thomas J. Ellefson, 60, Darlington, was cited for allowing open intoxicants in a vehicle as the owner of the vehicle after a deputy responded at 8:38 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, to a complaint of a vehicle backing into a parked vehicle on Milwaukee Street in Argyle. No damages were reported.

Casales was eastbound in a 2003 Chevrolet Impala when he reported he fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle. It traveled into a yard where it struck a utility pole and the porch of a house. The vehicle was moderately damaged and towed.
Haleigh E. Sonsalla, 18, Darlington, was cited for failure to keep control of a vehicle following a one-car accident on County K in the Town of Darlington at 6:25 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16. Sonsalla was eastbound in a 2004 Chrysler Sebring when she lost control while negotiating a curve and skidded on a small amount of gravel in the road from a private driveway. The vehicle veered into the ditch where it hit a fence post, brush and shrubbery. Neither Sonsalla or her passenger, Mackenzie K. Fox, 18, Darlington, were injured. The Darlington Fire Department and Rural Medical Ambulance assisted at the scene.
