BARNEVELD/BLUE MOUNDS - Melvin J. "Dutch" Flint, age 75 of Barneveld/Blue Mounds, WI, died on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 14, 1933 in Argyle, WI, to Charles and Gertrude (Wyttenbach) Flint. He graduated from Argyle High School. Dutch was a United States Navy veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. On January 27, 1975, he married Joan Wells. He was a member of Barneveld America Legion Post #9511, Operators & Engineers Union Local #139, and the Mt. Horeb VFW. Dutch was a John Deere collector and a fan of the Cubs, Packers, and Badgers. After retiring from Wingra Stone, he enjoyed wintering in Tucson, Arizona with his snow birds friends from all over the United States.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; his children: Alan (Bev) Flint of Blue Mounds, Jeffrey (Melissa) Flint of Madison, Lynette (Joel) Sutter of Mt. Horeb; his step-children: Kathy (friend, Keith) Sickels of Plano, TX, Pam (Bill) Trainor of Blue Mounds, Rayleine Knobel of Blanchardville, David (Mary Jean) Jacobson of Milwaukee, Diane (friend, John) Jacobson of Oregon; five grandchildren: Jessi and Nikki Flint; Lilianna Flint, and Jared and Laura Sutter; 14 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Flint of Argyle; a special niece, Connie Flint of Monroe; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rick Flint on December 31, 1984; a step-daughter, Vicki; a brother, Donald; a step-brother, James; a sister-in-law, Shirley; a brother-in-law, Donald; and his beagle, Freddie.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at ELLESTAD FUNERAL HOME, 500 N. 8th Street, Mt. Horeb, WI, with Rev. John Twiton officiating. Burial will follow at West Blue Mounds Lutheran Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be accorded. Friends may call from 1 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday at ELLESTAD FUNERAL HOME.
