Mary M. Kraus, age 98 of Monroe, formerly of Lena, IL, died Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Kass) Casper on April 16, 1917. She married Carl W. Olson and farmed with her husband in Minnesota until 1951 when they moved to Wisconsin. They farmed in the Darlington area for many years. Mary also worked at Microswitch, retiring in April of 1981. On September 19, 1987 she married Orlo H. Kraus. They lived near McConnell and later moved to Lena, IL. Upon moving to Monroe in 2004, they lived at Twining Valley and then at the Angelus Retirement Home. Mary was a member of St. Victors Catholic Church, she enjoyed sewing, playing cards and going out to eat.

She is survived by her children, Phyllis (Fred) Wenger of Davis, IL and Sandra Marshall of Monroe. She is further survived by a sister, Betty (Curt) Halvorson of Rapid City, SD; two sister-in-laws, Rosella Casper of Cuba City, WI and Verna Casper of Fennimore, WI. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, 3 sons: Roger, Loren and Dean Olson; 4 sisters: Lorena Eve, Sister Phillip Marie, Isabel Lesterberg and Crescentia Olson; 9 brothers: Selwyn, who was killed in WW II, Wilfred, Emanuel, John, Frank, Edward, Don, Bill and Joe Casper.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church, with Fr. Michael Klarer celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Monroe. A visitation will be held Tuesday, from 10:00 am until the time of service, at the church. SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home is assisting the family.
