Marian "Mary" Bacon, age 93, of Monroe, WI passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the New Glarus Home with her family by her side. Marian (Garvue) Bacon was born to John Garvue and Vivian (Tiedeman) Garvue, in Iola, WI, December 27, 1922. The family moved to Marshfield where Marian graduated from high school in 1940. She attended Milwaukee County Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1945. She came to Monroe to work at St. Clare Hospital as an RN; she later worked in the Monroe Clinic until her retirement. She met Burton Bacon and they were married in Milwaukee on May 12, 1946. Mary was a past president of the Monroe Country Club auxiliary and was an honorary member of the Monroe Women's Club. She enjoyed playing golf and euchre. She was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by two sons: Thomas (Nancy) of Monroe, and William (Fay) of New Glarus; grandchildren: Andrew (Allison), Lodi; Rebecca (Mason) Hoeft, Monona; Bradley, Sacramento, CA; and Stephani (Joseph) Hoch, Stoughton; and seven great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Dr. Robert Garvue of Baton Rouge, LA.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is serving the family.
