MINERAL POINT - Janice E. Brandt, 70 of Mineral Point passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 25, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 8, 1940 in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of Gerald and Mary (Haynes) Strause. Janice grew up in the Gratiot area. On August 1, 1964 she married Herman Brandt in Nora, Illinois, they shared 40 years together until his death in 2004. Janice and Herman farmed in the Mineral Point area for 17 years; she later worked at Farm & Fleet for 21 years until her retirement in 2005. Janice's hobbies were rocking, crocheting, bowling, going to Florida in the winter, and her outings with "the girls." She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially the precious moments with her granddaughters. Janice is survived by her daughter Tracy (Philip) Crooks of Argyle, two granddaughters; Tanisha Brandt and Aliesha Crooks of Argyle, two sisters Loretta (Larry) Molland of Grand Marsh and Carol (Richard) Burke of Darlington, three sister-in-laws Barbara Strause of Delavan, Della Brandt of Vancouver, WA, and Mary Oorlog of Avon ,SD and many nieces, nephews relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Herman, a son Kevin, her mother Mary and father Gerald and a brother Marvin. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Point. Pastor Mary Anne Conklin will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until time of service at the church.
