Gordon Dennis Peterson, age 85 of Blanchardville died on Friday evening, August 31, 2012 at the Monroe Manor in Monroe. He was born on October 27, 1926 in York Township, Green County, Wisconsin to Peter & Martha (Lokken) Peterson. They lived in Lee Valley in Perry Township for a bit, and then in 1935 the family moved to the home farm in York Township. He went to Sunny Side rural school. He worked on the family farm for his entire life, taking over in 1947 and farming there until he retired in 2010. He was married on June 21, 1949 in the Yellowstone Lutheran Church to Norma Alice Peterson. Gordy loved his farm and his farm work, especially driving the tractor through his fields. He also loved fishing, playing cards and deer hunting. He served as a town board member for 26 years, including serving as chairman for 17 years. Gordy and Norma also traveled to Arizona to visit family several times, and he loved fishing trips up north to Winter, WI. He was a member of the York Memorial Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He also sold Northrup-King Seed Corn for many years.

Gordy is survived by his wife, Norma Peterson of Blanchardville; six children, Bruce Peterson of Blanchardville, Greg (Kate) Peterson of Blanchardville, Vicki Peterson of Monroe, Brian Peterson of Blanchardville, Brent Peterson of Blanchardville, and Eric Peterson of Blanchardville, six grandchildren, Kyle, Kurt, Peter, Dana, Kelly and Daniel Peterson; one great-grandson, Ryder Peterson; one brother, Oren (Helen) Peterson of Winterset, Iowa; and two sisters, Joyce Dearth of Blanchardville and Shirley (Charles) Postler of New Glarus. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Priscilla Paulson, and Mavis who died as an infant.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the York Memorial Lutheran Church at the intersections of highways 78 and 39 in rural Blanchardville. Rev. Mark Gruner of the Pecatonica Lutheran Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the York Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, September 4, 2012 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville.
