Evelyn R. Kubly Jacobs

Evelyn R. Kubly Jacobs, age 91 of Monroe died on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at her home. She was born on March 18, 1921 in Monroe, the daughter of Orson and Lillie (Lehman) Wells. Evelyn and Paul R. Kubly were married on May 19, 1940, they were married for 49 years, he preceded her in death, and she later married Robert L. Jacobs on August 25, 1995. She and her husband Paul owned and operated the Kubly Paint Store from 1946 to 1962, selling the business to Fran Thorpe. Together Paul and Evelyn started and operated the Color Putty Company in 1963, she worked until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, a 58 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose Lodge #599, Monroe Bowling League, Antique Wheelers Car Club, and Monroe Women's Club. Evelyn enjoyed traveling; she traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. She liked to bowl and go out dancing, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially spoiling her grand and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Kenneth) Wyss; son-in-law, Larry Priewe; grandchildren, Toney (Sheri) Priewe, Dawn (Dale) Meier all of Monroe, Dana (Jeff) Felder of Oxford, PA, Angie (Ken Ramm) Hellendbrand of New Glarus, Amy (Joseph) Boland of Blanchardville; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Signer; sisters-in-law, Louise Wells and Fran Wells. She is predeceased by her husbands, Paul and Robert; daughter, Sharon Priewe and brothers, Howard and Emerson Wells.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 at the Church. The Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe Fire Department, Green County EMS or Monroe Clinic Hospice in Evelyn's memory.
