Earl E. Huffman, age 79 of Monroe, died Friday, August 16, 2013 at his home. He was born on June 8, 1934 in Clinton, Indiana; the son of Leo and Versa (Wright) Huffman. He attended schools in Vermillion and Parke Counties in Indiana. He married Gloria Smith on June 22, 1958, at the First Methodist Church, Clinton, IN. In 1963 they moved to Oakland, IL, where Earl was a long time employee for Miller Grain, hauling food grade corn to Frito Lay. His first run was to the Frito Plant in Monroe.

While in Illinois he was a member of the Oakland Christian Church, where he had served as a Deacon. He did a lot of woodworking after his retirement, making cradles for his grandchildren, and enjoyed doing lawn work. He was an avid University of Illinois Basketball fan. Most of all he enjoyed being with his sons and grandchildren. He was a member of the Oakland Masonic Lodge #219.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria of Monroe; sons: Tim (Nancy) of Hollandale, WI and Mark (Jill) of Lincolnshire, IL; 4 grandchildren: Nicholas and Connor Huffman of Hollandale and Hannah and Carson Huffman of Lincolnshire; two sisters, Cheryl Huffman of West Chester, OH and Wretha (Paul) Purdy of Clinton, IN; a brother, Bob (Holly) Huffman of Kirbyville, TX; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Huffman of Clinton, IN and Dorothy Kaiser of Centralia, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Gladys Nisbet and Carolyn Huffman; a brother Ray Huffman.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Monroe Bible Church, with Pastor Dan Krahenbuhl officiating. A visitation will be from 10:00 am, until the time of service. There will be a private burial at Middlebury Cemetery, Barneveld, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Monroe Bible Church or American Diabetes Assoc. Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home is assisting the family.
