Denise A. Sawdey, age 45 of Monroe, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on April 28, 1965 in Darlington, the daughter of David and Audrey (Anderson) Carpenter. She graduated from Darlington High School in 1983 and attended University of Stout. Denise married Steve Sawdey on September 21, 1985 in West Wiota Church. Denise was employed for the last nine years with the Garden Deli, which was like a second family, not only her employer, but all her customers too. She was a member with Wiota Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking and taking her dog for walks. She loved spending time with her grandson.

She is survived by her husband Steve of Monroe; a daughter, Kristin (Shawn) Weeden of Monroe; a grandson, Brent Weeden; parents, David and Audrey Carpenter of Darlington; 4 sisters: Amy (Dan) Bailey of Rosemount, MN, Jill (Troy) Kieffer of Bellevue, IA, Susan (Ted) Nyffenegger of Lodi, WI, and Jean Carpenter of Sun Prairie, WI; mother and father-in-law, Gerald and Delores Sawdey of South Wayne; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 26, 2011 at Wiota Lutheran Church, with Reverend Luke S. Smetters officiating. Burial will be in West Wiota Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home.
