MISDEMEANORS

• Justin D. Nyman, 23, Monroe, was charged with domestic abuse-related battery and disorderly conduct and resisting an officer Thursday for allegedly battering a woman he knows June 23 in the 1500 block of 11th Street. All three charges carry a "repeater" enhancer, meaning he could face four and a half years in prison if convicted on all charges. Court records indicate he was convicted of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct in 2014 and disorderly conduct and bail jumping in 2013. According to police documents, Nyman made his initial appearance in court Thursday and signed a $1,500 bond, $20 of that in cash, Friday. He is ordered not to drink or have violent or abusive contact with the victim. According to the criminal complaint, he threw her up against a wall and repeatedly hit her in the face and head, causing a bloody nose, swollen lip and bruising. Court records indicate he resisted arrest and continued to struggle as police put him in the back of a squad car. Nyman, who reportedly told police he and the woman had both been drinking prior to the incident, had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.11 percent. He was medically cleared at the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room and transported to jail. According to court documents, he told investigators he punched the woman in the face, causing bleeding, but only after she punched him in the face. Police noted in their report that they will refer disorderly conduct charges against the woman to the district attorney because she admitted to throwing something at him and punching him. Nyman has a pre-trial conference July 21.

• Mikael A. Gillen, 21, Stockton, Ill., was charged June 18 with disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer after a May 17 incident in which he allegedly slammed a bouncer into a wall outside the Friendly Inn, 1335 17th St., and later lied to police about it. Police records indicate Gillen made his initial appearance in court Monday, after which he signed a $1,000 signature bond ordering him to have no contact with the victim or the Friendly Inn. According to police reports, the bouncer was attempting to separate two people who were fighting when Gillen plowed into him with his shoulder, causing the bouncer to hit his head on a brick wall and fall over. He declined immediate medical attention. The bouncer told police Gillen continued to pick fights with other patrons and staff outside until officers arrived. Gillen reportedly told investigators the only person he pushed or grabbed in the scrum was his sister, who he was trying to get to leave. Police arrested him and took him to jail. His blood-alcohol concentration was 0.19 percent. He has a pre-trial conference July 21.

• Danielle M. Valentino, 24, Monroe, was charged Monday with domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct for allegedly hitting a man she knows in the head June 14 to keep him from leaving a residence in the 1400 block of 21st Avenue. According to police reports, Valentino and the man had been arguing and he started to leave by packing a bag of clothes. She reportedly grabbed the bag and threw it to keep him from leaving, then moved toward him with her arms flailing, hitting his ears. He told police he tried to get past her to pick up the bag and ended up grabbing her shirt and taking her to the floor so she couldn't swing at him. She was arrested and taken to jail. Court records indicate she posted a $150 cash bond June 15 and has an initial appearance July 6.

Court records indicate he was convicted of first-offense operating while intoxicated Monday after he entered a no-contest plea. That charge stemmed from a March 1 incident in which Kainz was arrested and jailed after a traffic stop in the 800 block of 10th Avenue.
