Beulah L. Furniss, age 88, of Monroe, died on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on April 10, 1921 in Ironton, WI, the daughter of Charles and Elva French. She graduated from Monroe High School.
Beulah French and Lyle Furniss were married on February 12, 1940 in Dubuque, IA.
Beulah was a Nurses Aid at St. Clare Hospital for 21 years, retiring in 1986, she also enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, crocheting and fishing.
Surviving is her son, Jim (Lorraine) Furniss of Monroe; daughter, Kathy White of Madison; 5 grandchildren, Mike (Heather) Furniss, Brian (Jodi) Furniss, Tracie Tuescher, Kandis (Scott) McDonald, Keisha Furniss; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 brothers, Floyd, Clinton, Leonard; 2 sisters, Sarah in infancy and Martha Bartelt.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009 at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME, 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue in Monroe, with Donna Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at a later date.
