Arthur von Haack, age 66, of 1723 Dewey Street, Manitowoc, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at his residence.
Arthur was born on August 21, 1943, in Manitowoc, son of the late Arthur and Velma (Watzke) Haack. Arthur served with the United States Marines in Vietnam. He worked as a professional deep-sea diver in the gulf coast and as a licensed securities broker in the Milwaukee area. In 1978 he completed his bachelors degree at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and married Jean Robichaux. Arthur earned a masters degree in Divinity from Meadville-Lombard Seminary at the University of Chicago and was an ordained minister with the Unitarian Universalist Association. He later formed the Community Ministries Corporation to work with homeless veterans. A lifelong learner, Arthur's associates rarely saw him without a book. He was a member of the American Legion #84, the VFW Post # 2312 both of Monroe, the Unitaritian Universalist Association, the U.S. Forces Veteran Riders of Manitowoc, with whom he was very involved as a vet helping vets.
Arthur is survived by his daughter, Sarah Jane von Haack, Concord, NH; his brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Carla Haack and their son, James Haack, Acworth, GA; and two sisters: Velma Haack and her daughter Anna Haack, Milwaukee, and Patricia Haack and her special friend Dennis Reick, Saukville.
A memorial gathering will be held from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. this Friday, March 5, 2010 at the AMVETS Post #99, 4310 Conroe St., Manitowoc.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home and All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc is assisting the family with final arrangements.
