Arlene Jean Isom died Tuesday January 7, 2014 after complications of a hip fracture.
Arlene was born June 18, 1927, at home, in Chippewa Falls, WI. She was the eighth child of Otis Theodore Hanson and Addie Belle Zibble. She attended school in Chippewa Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High in May of 1945.
Arlene worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, Fort Madison, Illinois during 1945 - 1946 and Montgomery Wards, Chippewa Falls, in 1947.
Arlene met DeWayne Ralph Isom through her friend Jean Ann Isom, DeWayne's sister. They were married February 15, 1948 at Trinity Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls. Their marriage was blessed with four children; Marie Ann, Mary Louise, Kathleen Ruth, and Gerald DeWayne.
Arlene and DeWayne spent their first married years in several apartments in Chippewa then in 1958 they purchased their home at 210 Stanley Street, Chippewa Falls. They spent their lives at this address up until DeWayne's death in 1997. After that Arlene spent several years living with Marie's family and then with Mary's family. Then Arlene moved to an assisted living facility in Monroe, WI, finally residing at Valley Park Assisted Living, Albany, WI.
Arlene was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 246, since 1985 and a member of the VFW Auxiliary #1038 since 1991.
The family would like to thank the staff at ContinuUS, the Monroe Clinic hospital, Monroe Manor and Valley Park for all the caring and support extended to Arlene and her family.
She is mourned by her daughters, Marie (Terrence C. Halfen), Mary (Jerry Lee Daley); her son, Gerald; daughter-in-law, Diane Isom; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Addie Hanson; her husband, DeWayne; her daughter, Kathleen and her son-in-law, Brian Page.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Pederson Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday April 18 at the funeral chapel.
