DARLINGTON — A Lafayette County man was due in court this week on charges he repeatedly sexually assaulted a child under 16.

According to court records, Shaun D. Hague, of Darlington, faces multiple charges of repeated sexual assault of the same child and first-degree sexual assault. It is unknown at this time when exactly the abuse occurred or if the victim is related to the defendant.

He also faces a felony charge of trying to intimidate or threaten the victim.

A public defender has been appointed on his behalf, as Hague was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on January 30. First degree sexual assault is a Class B felony in Wisconsin, punishable by up to 60 years behind bars.

He was free on $20,0000 cash bond prior to the hearing and was to have no contact with the victim, records say.
