DARLINGTON - A man convicted of sexual assault will be bound over for a jury trial to determine whether or not he will be deemed a sexual predator.
Ryan J. Larson, 34, detained in Oshkosh Correctional, was found guilty of first degree sexual assault while using a dangerous weapon in March of 2004. According to a press release from Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen:
Lafayette County Circuit Court Judge William D. Johnston heard evidence on Friday, Feb. 21, that lead him to find probable cause that Larson is sexually violent. The Wisconsin Department of Justice filed a petition against Larson on Feb. 14.
The state's petition alleges that Larson suffers from mental conditions that impel him to engage in acts of sexual violence. This petition was filed to address Larson's alleged mental disorders, which supposedly make it likely he will act out in sexual violence again.
Larson has a scheduling conference set for March 26.
