The Green County Historical Society has been collecting information about the 120 former one-room schools of the county for many years. Information from treasurer, clerk and teacher records contains a great amount of useful information. It is also seeking photographs of the buildings, teachers and groups of students to scan for its files. Anyone having any of these records that GCHS may copy may contact Matt Figi at 325-6503 or mfigi48@tds.net. Kathleen Conway Arnas, Milwaukee, recently brought this photo of the students in Biggs School in 1938 to Monroe. Shown are Ruth Severson, Mavis Hovde and Patricia Conway in the first row. In the second row are Ralph Colden, Raphael Conway, Maynard Moen and Curtis Emberson. In the third row are Betty Jane Flannery, Dorothy Hendrickson and Laura Walder. In the front row are Kathleen Conway, Sneeva Moen, Rosemary Flannery, Helen Colden, Patricia Wilborn, Roger Nall and Avis Wahl. (Photo supplied by the Green County Historical Society)
