The Stockton Heritage Museum invites the public to the museum as local resident Larry Lyons shares the story of how his family came to settle in Illinois, their connections with Black Hawks’ tribe, and the five generations of family history that shaped their well-drilling business. It’s a look at local heritage, resilience, and the people who helped build the community.

Lyons Well Drilling Co. Inc est. 1885; serves the Jo Daviess County and surrounding area with diverse services that include Well Drilling, Water Testing, Waste Water Testing and Crane Rental Services.

The saga began in 1885 when Alec Lyons, equipped with little more than determination and a horse-powered rig, drilled the company’s first well. This marked a significant departure from the arduous process of hand-digging wells, setting the stage for a legacy of innovation.
