South Central Chapter of Wisconsin Farmers Union celebrates National Ag Day with expert panel on Ways to Sustain the Future for Family Farms

FITCHBURG — In celebration of National Ag Day, the South Central Chapter of the Wisconsin Farmers Union (SCWFU) hosts a panel discussion Ways to Sustain the Future for Family Farms. The event will take place from 2-5 p.m. on March 26 at Four Winds Agricultural Event Center, 5735 Adams Road, Fitchburg. 

In partnership with the Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Association (WATA), Michael Fields Agricultural Institute (MFAI), and Wisconsin Cottage Food Association, come learn about possible on-farm revenue-generating opportunities through Agricultural Tourism, Perennial Grain production and farmstead-made Cottage Foods. Learn about Wisconsin’s Ag Tourism and current zoning law updates to know what is possible on a farm, hear about breakthroughs on what’s allowed for home baking and how to grow perennial grains all with an eye to aid small farmers to earn additional income to sustain family farms and homesteads.

Four Winds Agricultural Event Center will offer a tour of their farm and facility from 2-3 p.m., followed by an indoor barn pot luck 3-3:30 p.m. and panel discussion on Ways to Sustain the Future for Family Farms from 3:30-4:30 p.m. 

Panelist include Sheila Everhart, WATA, Mark Wroczynski and Joey Dunscombe, Four Winds Farm, Sue Nelson, Green County Supervisor, Kriss Marion, Wisconsin Cottage Foods Association and Nicole Tautges, MFAI. Please bring a delicious entree, soup, baked goods or the likes to share for the pot luck. Drinks and tableware will be provided by SCWFU.
