Princess-themed programs offered in mid-August at Parks and Rec

MONROE — The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department has openings in the following one-day programs next week:


Lunch with Beauty & the Beast at the Enchanted Castle, sponsored by Colony Brands: Children will meet Belle and the Beast and have lunch in their enchanted castle. Lunch will be hot dog, chips, cookie, fruit and cheese. 

Those attending should come dressed in a princess gown, as the beast or as one of the other characters. Face painting will be provided by artist Jane Swiggum. 

This program will be from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Aug. 14 at Turner Hall. Ages 3-12.

Princesses Have Landed on the Square, sponsored by Green County Dairy Queens, Monroe Lions Club and Colony Brands: An enchanted evening is planned from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17 on the courthouse lawn. Those attending should come dressed in their fanciest outfit for an evening of games and fun at the enchanted forest on the courthouse lawn. 

The Green County Dairy Queens will be dressed as popular princesses and running a carnival game at their station. Cinderella, Elsa, Mulan, Rapunzel, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Tinker Bell, Moana and Arial will be present. Pony rides will be sponsored by Monroe Lions Club and free train ride are sponsored by Marv Rufi from Farm Toys Store and Colony Brands. 

The concert on the Square will follow that night. There is no age limit, but children should be accompanied by an adult to drop in to play games and meet the princesses. is no cost to register but registration is necessary to best prepare by calling 329-2460. There will be a small fee for carnival games.
