MADISON - The Wisconsin Association of School Nurses announced Mary Kay Logemann, BSN, RN, MEd, as the Katheryn Etter School Nurse of the Year Award recipient for 2015. The honor was given to Logemann on April 23 during the WASN Spring Conference Awards Ceremony.

Logemann has been the nurse for the Platteville School District since 1990.

Individuals who nominated Logemann described her as "a fierce advocate for students and families." In working with students, she also takes on a role of ongoing home visits to assist families and provide them with support and guidance.

As the school district nurse, Logemann has a quality practice, continues to expand her education, exemplifies collaboration, shows leadership and uses research in her daily practice of health services for students and staff alike.

Logemann is from Monroe. Katheryn Etter was Logemann's own school nurse. During Logemann's tenure on the WASN Board, she worked diligently to have the award put in Katheryn's name.
