MONROE - Monroe High School's Students for Service organization is sponsoring a "Prom for Pennies" event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29 and Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Monroe Theater Guild, 910 16th Ave.
The idea is for the community to donate old prom dresses to the high school for the event.
At 1 p.m. on Jan. 29, there will be a fashion show and $1 raffle of miscellaneous items donated by local businesses. There will then be an opportunity for high school students to shop for a dress and donate whatever they would like for their dress.
On Feb. 4, students will again be able to shop for dresses from 1 to 3 p.m.
All donations from the program will be given to the Food Pantry. To donate a dress, bring it to Gail Eiserman at the high school. More information is available by calling Eiserman at (608) 328-7316.
