MONROE – Natalie Henning, RN, SSM Health Monroe Hospital float nurse, is the newest recipient of the DAISY Award.

The DAISY Award is an international program that celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care delivered by nurses every day. Nurses may be nominated by patients, families and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen based on specific criteria to receive The DAISY Award.

Natalie was nominated by three different individuals. One of which was Nicole, a previous patient of Natalie’s, who was able to join the award presentation. Nicole’s nomination shared: “Natalie took exceptional care of me, the intended parents, and baby girl during our family birth stay for a surrogacy birth. Not only was she caring for my needs as the patient, but she had my husband and the intended parents to care for as well. She handled everything with grace and patience. Her kindness speaks volumes of how genuine of a person she truly is. We didn’t think baby girl was going to arrive before the end of Natalie’s shift, but baby girl wanted Natalie there and she made her appearance right about shift change. I am so glad Natalie was able to be there. Her support during the final stages of labor is something I will never forget. I was discharged before baby and the intended parents but went to visit one day later. Natalie was working and the look on her face of excitement to see how well I was doing was awesome. She truly cares about her patients. Natalie went above and beyond to make sure all of us were well taken care of.”

Natalie is one of three million nurses nationwide who represent the largest healthcare profession. SSM Health Monroe Hospital and SSM Health Monroe Clinic Medical Group employs over 230 nurses serving patients throughout southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
