MONROE — The Green County Extension Office is working in collaboration with the UW-Stevens Point Center for Watershed Science and Education to offer a Grassroots Groundwater Quality Trend Data Program. This program is designed for private well owners who would like to test their water on a yearly basis. The goal is to assist in understanding your own well water quality and contribute to a network to understand overall groundwater quality trends in the county.
Participants will sign up, receive a water testing kit and pre-paid return mailer in September-October, collect their sample, and send their sample to the lab. The base testing kit and prepaid shipping costs $78 and will test for nitrate-nitrogen, chloride, alkalinity, total hardness, pH, and conductivity. Additional tests for more specific components may be added for an additional fee.
