BRODHEAD — Brodhead Historical Society is having a dedication of a new building addition at 1 p.m. July 28 at Brodhead’s Depot Museum, located just south of the railroad tracks on Main Street.

The addition to Brodhead’s Depot Museum was completed on schedule in early May and has been open during normal summer hours since Memorial Day weekend. The 3700-square-foot L-shaped addition will be named in honor of William S. Knight and includes an exhibit of Knight Manufacturing artifacts and information.

Community members donated or loaned Knight Manufacturing artifacts and information and volunteered local knowledge and efforts to create the permanent exhibit.

The exhibit includes pictures, equipment brochures, clothing, signs, early prototypes, hand-drawn designs and some full-size early manufactured items from the 1946-2003 ag and manufacturing era.

Members from organizations and companies who have helped make the William S. Knight Building Addition and Knight Manufacturing exhibit possible will be in attendance at the dedication ceremony.

The museum is free and open to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, Memorial Day weekend through the first Saturday in October. Other times are available by appointment by calling 558-0790, 558-4822 or 897-8131. For more information, visit the website at brodheadhistory.org.
