ADRC offering program for National Women’s Health Awareness Month
ADRC

MONROE — May is “National Women’s Health Awareness Month.” This month is a great opportunity to bring some much-needed awareness focused on women’s health, by reminding and encouraging all women (and girls) to start or continue to make their health a priority.  Make the time to talk and learn more about female incontinence and what to do to better manage, improve, and even prevent or delay the start of symptoms from occurring.

More than half of women over the age of 50 experience issues with bladder or bowel control. These problems can be slightly bothersome or totally debilitating. For many women, the chance of embarrassment keeps them from enjoying many activities and can take control of their life.

A program offered through the Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) can help. “Mind Over Matter: Healthy Bowels, Healthy Bladder” is a workshop researched and developed through the University of Wisconsin Madison — School of Medicine and Public Health, designed to give women, age 50 and older, the tools they need to take control of their bladder and bowel symptoms. It’s even designed to help women who are not currently experiencing incontinence issues, to help prevent and delay any symptoms from developing.

The workshop provides information, group activities, and simple exercises and dietary changes to practice at home and, over time, incorporate into everyday life.

Join the next upcoming offering of Mind Over Matter on the following dates:

●   Friday, May 24

●   Friday, June 7

●   Friday, June 21
