MONROE - There were 50 fourth- and fifth-graders in Green County who entered the 2014 Wisconsin Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom essay contest. The theme was "Wisconsin gardens provide many food choices for us."
Winners of the 2014 Green County essay contest included: First-place winner Elsa Schaefer, fourth-grader from Northside Elementary School, Monroe; second-place winner Susan Farias, fourth-grader from Juda school district; and third-place winner Lucas Flom, a fourth-grader from Northside.
Each winner read their essay to attendees at the Green County Dairy Breakfast on the Farm, hosted by Roe Farms Partnership, on May 31. The winning students were also recognized with a plaque sponsored by Rural Insurance agent Craig Kamholz, JBM Insurance Group, and given a copy of the "First Peas to the Table" by Susan Grigsby, the Farm Bureau's book of the year, sponsored by the Green County Farm Bureau.
