Letter to the Editor: Let’s talk about bettering children’s lives
Letter To The Editor

From Corrine Hendrickson

New Glarus

Secretary, Green County Child Care Network

To the editor:

The lack of high-quality child care is creating a loss of $3 billion annually in Wisconsin. Because our nonprofit group of child care professionals understands how critical the shortage is, we are sponsoring a screening and discussion of No Small Matter for all community members on March 13, from 6:30 to 8:45 at the Monroe Public Library.

Following the screening there will be a discussion period of the film.

No Small Matter is built from stories of real children, families and teachers, illustrating the impact of high-quality early childhood experiences. We meet parents who are struggling to do their best for their kids, incredible teachers who model what early childhood classrooms should and could be like, and children learning and developing in real time.

Change is necessary, critical, and attainable if we put our minds to it. There is also interesting, easy to understand scientific discussion and graphics of how the human brain works. Furthermore, how we can use that information to create developmentally appropriate environments for children to learn and grow to their fullest potential?
